In 2003, after many years working in an office, the frequent emails from colleagues of “Doughnuts in the kitchen!” or “Cakes!” were beginning to take their toll on my waistline. Time to join the gym and lose that pastry paunch! The fitness instructor gave me a generic workout programme, rather than something specifically tailored to my needs. 2 weeks later and I’d hurt my back because nobody was checking to see if I was doing the exercises correctly. I persevered for several months but further injuries followed until I had to admit defeat. Time to book my first ever sports massage!
The massage therapist started to shed some light on my problem. I had no idea I had tight hamstrings, bad posture and a weak core. It dawned on me that I needed to find someone who could understand my issues and customise an exercise routine to my specific needs. I hired a personal trainer and the rest, as they say, is history. They trained me hard but safely, and kept me motivated until I lost the weight I wanted to lose. From that point on I realised I wanted to help people to be healthier, lose weight, get fitter and avoid injuries in the process.
Since qualifying as a personal trainer in 2007 I’ve worked with numerous men, women and couples to help achieve their specific health and fitness goals.
