For those of you who drive past the Farnham Memorial Hall on East Street you may well have seen the sign that says “Tango South”. One of my regular sports massage clients started dancing there 4 years ago and inspired me to give it a go. I’d always thought I had two left feet but the level of teaching for beginners was excellent. Before I knew it I was dancing! It provides a subtle workout which doesn’t feel tiring at the time but, like any new exercise, you know about it the next day! Tango is also very good for posture as well as being sociable and fun! Find your local church hall and there’s usually at least one badminton club using it. This is an excellent form of exercise where you can start as a complete beginner and get lots of enjoyment from day one. I played at the Bourne Club, Farnham several years ago, not long after the badminton club got started, and I was delighted at the warm welcome and good mix of abilities. In addition to 4 senior clubs and 5 junior sessions, they now offer badminton coaching at the Bourne Club, which is a nice way of getting 1-2-1 experience and tips on improving as a beginner or more advanced player. For details, please visit the Bourne Club’s badminton page here:
Farnham, and the surrounding area, is beautiful, so what better way of experiencing it than with a walk?! There are several walking groups in the area but for their sheer variety and quantity of walks I feel compelled to highlight ‘Farnham Ramblers’. The walks I’ve done with them have always been well organised and thoroughly enjoyable. As they say on their website they cater for all ages and abilities and have walks every day during the summer months. For more details visit the Farnham Ramblers website here:
